One crazy bus ride to tentena
noch ein letztes fruehstuck bei unserer netten gastfamilie in RANTEPAO und dann ging es mit dem bus ueber die berge. die ersten stunden kaempfte sich unser bus wie eine langsame schlange die hohen berge hinauf – toller ausblick! irgendwann erreichten wir schliesslich die ostkueste und damit das relativ kleine staedtchen PALOPO. weitere vier stunden vergingen bis wir die naechsten berge vor uns hatten …es war anstrengend und heiss-heiss-heiss! um 17.00 uhr mussten wir zwangsweise eine laengere pause einlegen …der motor knurrte und die maenner schraubten wie wild daran herum. was will man mehr auf dieser ohnehin schwierigen bergstrecke? felix und ich nutzten die zeit um unsere fuesse wieder zum leben zu erwecken und beobachteten dabei auch zwei kleine jungs die mit kleinen huehnchen spielten. es wirkte alles sehr friedlich um das kleine haus mitten in den bergen und ein foto schien perfekt zu sein. ich wuehlte also hinter felix im rucksack nach der kamera, als felix in bahasa anfing etwas zu sagen …und als ich endlich die kamera ertastete, liess ich sie sofort wieder in den rucksack fallen: das kleine huehnchen war tot :( da standen wir also... fuenf schockierte touristen und eine mama die ihre beiden jungs wieder zurueck ins haus schleppte.
der motor wieder zusammengeflickt, ging es noch weiter die berge hinauf …die stunden vergingen und es wurde dunkel. das ziel fast vor augen, stoppte unser bus erneut …eine python lag vor uns auf der strasse und hatte zwei weisse eier im schlepptau. wow! den rest der geschichte ersparre ich euch. :)
ein anderer tourist war so nett und teilte seine schnell geschossenen fotos mit mir:
insgesamt brauchten wir 13 stunden bis TENTENA ...in SULAWESI muss man sich wirklich jeden kilometre hart erkaempfen.
wir verbrachten nur einen bewoelkt-verregneten tag und zwei naechte in TENTENA. es war wieder mal schoen internet zu haben und wir sassen daher fast den ganzen tag auf unserer terrasse. :) die hausregeln der unterkunft musste ich euch einfach abfotografieren - number 1 ist sehr amuesant! da gibt es noch spielraum :) :) TENTENA ist eine christliche hochbug und ein bettchen wird nur innerhalb der ehe geteilt. da hatten wir ja nochmal glueck... haha!
an jenem tag in TENTENA bekamen wir leider auch das schwere erdbeben ab. das epizentrum war noerdlich von PALU und liess uns auch in TENTENA ordentlich wackeln. :( die nachrichten erzaehlen euch vom rest der geschehnisse... ... ...
ENGLISH:
one last breakfast at our hostfamily’s house in RANTEPAO and then over the mountains in a sweaty bus. the first few hours, we climbed our way up the high mountains just like a slow snake - amazing views! eventually, we reached the east coast and the rather smallish town PALOPO. another four hours passed, until we had another mountain range ahead …by then it was exhausting and hot-hot-hot! at 5pm we were forced to take a break …the engine made a weird sound and the men seemed to take it apart with their simple spanner. what else could we have wish for on a tricky mountain road? felix and i used the time to stretch our legs and at the same time we watched two little boys playing with tiny chicks. it all seemed really idyllic around the small house in the mountains and so I decided: it's time for a photo! so, my hands were digging inside our rucksack to get the camera out when felix all of a sudden started talking in bahasa …nearly screaming. as soon as i took hold of the camera i somewhat immediately dropped it again: one chick was dead :( there we were... five shocked tourists and a mom dragging her two boys back inside the house.
with the engine put together again we were back on the road …hour after hour passed and it got dark. our destination was in reach when our bus stopped again …we found a python right in front of us with two eggs in tow. wow! i spare you the details. :)
another tourist was so kind and shared his quick shots with me (see above).
all together it took us 13 hours to reach TENTENA ...in SULAWESI every kilometer forward is a little struggle.
we only spent one cloudy-rainy day and two nights in TENTENA. it was really nice to have internet again and so we ended up on our terrace for most of the day. :) i had to take a photo of the house rules for you – number 1 is hilarious! there is still a loop whole :) :) TENTENA is a christian haven and you better be married before you share a bed with someone. lucky for us… haha!
on the very day in TENTENA we unfortunately had to experience a really bad earthquake. the epicenter was in the north of PALU and gave us a good shake too. :( the news will tell you the rest of the events… … …
