Cebu City

boot – bus – tricycle – faehre – taxi …geschafft! 

fuer zwei tage zog es uns nach CEBU CITY und hinein in die menschenmasse. sightseeing war sehr einfach in der stadt und wir konnten fast alles zu fuss erreichen …obwohl es nicht immer einfach war mit meiner verletzung am fuss. unser erster stopp war el nino in der BASILICA MINORE DEL SANTO NINO DE CEBU. die kleine „puppe“ wird von den einheimischen verehrt und angebetet. felix und ich mussten einige zeit in der schlange anstehen, bis wir einen blick auf el nino werfen durften. 

in einer anderen kirche durften wir einem nervoesen braeutigam dabei zusehen, wie er seiner braut das ja-wort gab – jeder schritt war bis ins letzte detail geplant :) 

danach stapften wir noch zum FORT SAN PEDRO und streichelten jede katze die uns ueber den weg lief …und das waren so einige! hihi! zum schluss besuchten wir noch ein altes gefaengnis das heute als museum dient. 

felix nutzte unsere sightseeing tour um sich durch die lokalen gerichte zu kosten. fuer vegetarier sind die PHILIPPINEN ein kleiner albtraum. gegessen wird fleisch mit fleisch und noch mehr fleisch! oh, und zucker! zucker ist auch fast ueberall dabei. wir probierten auch das gut bekannte jollibee fastfood: reis mit nudeln und huehnchen …was fuer eine kombination :) :)

for two days we joined the business of CEBU CITY. we had an easy time exploring the city as everything was somewhat within walking distance …i have to admit though: it wasn’t that much fun with my injured foot.
our first sightseeing stop was el nino  at the BASILICA MINORE DEL SANTO NINO DE CEBU. the little “doll” is worshipped by the local people. felix and i had to queue for some time to see el nino up close.
at a different church we were allowed to watch a nervous groom to say “yes” to his bride …every detail was carefully planned :)
afterwards, we walked to FORT SAN PEDRO and played with every single cat crossing our way …and there were quite a few! hehe!
our final stop was at a former prison which has been turned into a museum.

our sightseeing tour was also a great opportunity for felix to try lots of local dishes. for vegetarians the PHILIPPINES can turn into a little nightmare. it’s all about meat with meat and some more meat! oh, and sugar! a lot of food contains sugar. we also tried the famous jollibee fastfood: rice with noodles and chicken …what a combination :) :)
