A pedicure for Buddha
seit mehreren jahren schwebt mir ein besuch in LESHAN vor, oder anders gesagt, ich wurde von CHINATOWN in SINGAPUR um den finger gewickelt - gutes marketing SINGAPUR!
eine stunde im bus und schon waren wir dem GIANT BUDDHA ganz nah. wir holten tickets und freuten uns, als die frau nur die haelfte des preises verlangte. laechelnd hielt sie uns das restgeld inkl. tickets entgegen und zeigte dann auf ein foto. kopf nach links… kopf nach rechts… was sollte das bloss sein?
als wir es endlich begriffen hatten, waren wir erstmals sprachlos ueber LESHAN’S GIANT BUDDHA und all das renovierungszeugs rund um ihn herum. ohje! es erklaerte immerhin den reduzierten preis…
wir stapften also durch den wald und fanden schliesslich einen GIANT BUDDHA der lediglich seine zehen verpackt hatte – pedicure!

euphorisch bestaunten wir den riesen und knipsten etliche fotos. glueck gehabt, die renovierungsarbeiten waren beinahe abgeschlossen!
danach wanderten wir noch weiter zu verschiedenen tempeln und pagoden.

mit vielen netten eindruecken (und einem leichten sonnenbrand) ging es am spaeten nachmittag zurueck in unsere unterkunft in das kleine EMEI SHAN.

one hour inside the bus and LESHAN’S GIANT BUDDHA was near. we got tickets and were super happy when the lady behind the counter only asked for half the money. with a smile in her face she handed us the change including the tickets and pointed to a photo in the window. head to the left… head to the right… what should that be?
when we finally understood what’s going on we were simply speechless – in a negative way! LESHAN’S GIANT BUDDHA had renovation materials all around him. at least this explained the reduced price…
oh well. we marched into the forest and after some time found the GIANT BUDDHA who solely had his toes wrapped up – pedicure!
we were super euphoric about the whole thing and took a whole lot of pictures. lucky for us the renovation works were almost done!
afterwards, we continued walking and spent some time at the temples and pagodas up on the hill.
