Journey through SUMBA
ENGLISH:
after the first three days in TAMBOLAKA, we hopped onto the next bus to WAIKABUKAK …i know, we also spent some time remembering the cities and villages :) :)
our little bus was quickly filled with people and we were again impressed by the people-tetris which unfolded itself in front of us (we sat in the last corner and could see everything). after a few stops, we had students sitting on top of the bus or somewhat hanging onto the bus, chicken under the seat and several people sharing one seat. ASIA!
two hours later and with one euro spent we arrived in WAIKABUBAK.
our journey was supposed to get easier every kilometer further to the east …in WAIKABUBAK and in the villages around it we were mostly welcome or lucky to be at the right place at the right time. at our accommodation we quickly got to know peter. the friendly ozzie enjoys travelling as much as we do and we therefore enjoyed WAIKABUBAK mostly together incl. lots of travel stories …besides this, two “white light houses” are better than one = me alone :)
we visited two villages: KAMPUNG TARUNG and KAMPUNG PRAI LJING
in comparison to KODI the villages around WAIKABUBAK appeared to be more modern and most of the people seemed open-minded.
in TARUNG we were invited to join an upcoming funeral – peter and felix happily accepted and bought presents for the family of the deceased: 1kg sugar, 1kg coffee and 2 packages of cigarettes
i added some of the innocent photos of the funeral …and spare you the rest.
just the thought gave me an uneasy feeling …funeral …animal sacrifice …i decided to write and sort pictures in our pretty garden instead – that always takes quite some time :P
side note: SINGACOOKIE.blogspot.com had 3468 visitors until today – you are AMAZING!!! you should pack your things and join us :)
besuchten zwei groessere doerfer:
KAMPUNG TARUNG
